December 2009

A relatively quiet December. Most notable events were a marquee for The Army (if we told you more we would have to shoot you), and erecting a marquee in the snow for the local police. 1st NOVEMBER 2009 half an inch of rain in two hours and guess what we are doing. Taking down a free charity fund raising marquee for CHASE hospice in driving rain at 8am Sunday morning. Thanks to Karen for the much needed hot tea and sausage sandwiches! Hope all was a success. We will finish the month working on the Chelsea Physic Garden Christmas Fair.

Six inches of snow fell last Tuesday night. Earliest snow we can remember and so much of it! We were in the middle of the build period for a large Craft Fair at the Royal Horticultural Society Wisley and the build had to continue. Wednesday was spent installing extra heating and manually removing snow build up on the marquee roofs. (Marquees can collapse under weight of snow if left untended in these conditions). The first day of the show (Thursday)was cancelled as access was deemed to dangerous for exhibitors and visitors.

The Claremont Marquees 2011 photo prize was awarded today. 14 separate entries this year, with many hundreds of photos, as clients are now emailing links to their photographers entire collection for their event. Any one of these photos could have been a worthy winner and as always there was much debate over the final result. The winning entrant has been notified and will shortly receive a case of champagne. Marquee Mondays are drying days

MARQUEE MONDAYS Marquee Mondays are drying days at Claremont Marquees, the Marquee Hire in Surrey specialists. Most marquee hire events are at weekends and we make every effort to get customers sites back to normal as soon as possible. This means that most of our tents are cleared back to our Surrey marquee hire warehouse on Marquee Mondays. Of course it is a huge help if it isn’t raining when a marquee is taken down. If it is dry (and clean) we can pack it away as soon as we get home. If it is wet we have to hang it until dry.
